Lock Changes
When moving into any property, whether new or re-sale, it is recommended that you change your door locks. This is for your own security and is relatively quick and inexpensive.
There are many types of cylinder available and the change should not cost more than 35 € unless you have a specialized door.
Be aware, some people charge far too much for the service (ie 170 € when it should have been 35 €)

Door Locks
British Standard Mortise Lock |
|
Spanish Bolt style Lock |

This British Standard 5 lever Mortise lock's main strength i n Spain is the steel box striker, which will not allow it to be forced by a screwdriver in the usual way. The lock is neat and unobtrusive. |
|

Fitted on the inside of the door, this lock is very popular with the Spanish due to it's strength. It will fit most doors and is opened from the outside with a key. |

Window Locks
The idea of window locks is to stop the windows being 'popped' open and either access gained or items 'fished out' from inside. I fit two types of window locks which vary in price and quality. |

| Chubb Locking Window Locks |
 |
The Chubb lock has 3 advantages over the Spanish lock. These are:
1/ The bolt is cut to the correct size for the window so it almost touches the outer metal.
2/ The bolts have a security thread so they can not be unscrewed.
3/ The keys can not be bought in Spain so the criminals can not open the locks with a standard key. |
